Compliment an Officer or Report Complaints

The City of Minneapolis is committed to maintaining a police department that is professional and serves its community with integrity and honor. The City encourages feedback from the public. Report outstanding conduct as well as potential misconduct to help us accurately assess officer performance and take appropriate action.

Compliment an officer Your input will go to the Office of the Chief of Police. Chief Dolan is dedicated to commending his officers and reinforcing good police work and positive public interaction. Commendations are placed in the officer's file and may even result in an award from the Chief.
The City has two offices that receive complaints about police from the public. You must select one or the other:
File a complaint to CRA Civilian Police Review Authority (CRA) is a part of the Minneapolis Department of Civil Rights and is not associatd with the Police Department. The CRA uses trained civilian investigators to look into complaints against police officers. Under City Ordinance, the CRA must have a signed complaint that includes the complainant's name. The CRA only investigates complaints about sworn officers.
File a complaint to Internal Affairs Unit Internal Affairs Unit (IAU) receives and investigates complaints about officers. The IAU is a part of the Minneapolis Police Department and uses sworn police investigators to look into complaints. The IAU accepts complaints involving any employee of the police department.
